The Board of Directors of HeritageWest Credit Union give of their time and expertise on a volunteer basis. Since they are member / owners like all other members, their desire is solely to improve the credit union and its ability to fulfill the needs of the membership. As you can see, they possess a wealth of experience. Members of the Board are elected each year prior to the Annual Meeting. They serve for a three-year term. The Board of Directors are responsible for setting the policies and direction of the credit union.

Norma Worwood - Board Chair

Norma was born and raised in Tooele. She retired from Deseret Chemical Depot as a Management Assistant having worked for 41 years. Norma has been a member of HeritageWest Credit Union since 1975. She has a depth of knowledge in the workings of a credit union, having served on the credit committee and the HeritageWest Credit Union Supervisory Committee prior to her present position as a member of the Board of Directors. On the Board, she has served as its Secretary, Vice-Chair and Chair. Norma is committed to the success of HeritageWest Credit Union and its continued service to all members.

John L. Hansen - Board VICE CHAIR

John is a life-long resident of Tooele and has been a member of HeritageWest Credit Union for more than 40 years. He retired from Dugway Proving Grounds and the Utah National Guard. John is currently a member of the Tooele City Council. He has served the members of HeritageWest Credit Union as a Board member since 1983 and has served as the Board Chair for four years during his tenure. He is totally dedicated to the principle of member-owned credit unions that provide low-cost financial services to members.

Kathy Whitehouse-Degelbeck - Board sECRETARY

Kathy has been a member of the HeritageWest Credit Union Board since 1992 where she served as Chair of the Board in from 2000 to 2001. She retired from Tooele Army Depot where she was employed as a Budget Analyst and a Facilities Administration Specialist for over 22 years. She is currently a Real Estate Agent for Coldwell Banker Residential Brokerage and also works part time as an Office Manager for Santa Rita Environmental and Ritchie Brothers Auctioneers.

Kathy is married to Max Degelbeck and between them they have 8 children and 18 active grandchildren who keep them busy with their sports and school activities. Her interests besides family are traveling, following University of Utah and Utah Jazz sports, and life in general. Kathy has seen the Credit Union grow from $94,000,000 in assets to well over $200,000.000. She would like to thank you, the members, for your continued support for her in serving on the Credit Union Board.

Dr. Kim A. Halladay - Board MEMBER

Kim has lived in Tooele since 1983 when he opened his Podiatric Medicine practice here. During the same year he opened accounts for his family at HeritageWest Credit Union. He has served for nine years as a member of the Utah Podiatric Medical Association Executive Board. Previous to that he served as chair of the public relations committee and as the political action representative. He has extensive experience working with the public in Tooele County. Kim brings strong leadership skills to his position on the Board where he has served since 1997.

Max W. Hancock - Board Member

Max has lived in Tooele County since 1970. He retired from the Tooele Army Depot in 1994 and is currently the Facility Manager for the LDS Church in Tooele County. Max has been a volunteer at HeritageWest Credit Union since 1983. Max is committed to working together to provide continued improvement in the products, services and facilities of the credit union.

Michael R. Johnson - Board Member

Mike earned a bachelor of science in political science with a minor in economics from Utah State University in 1990, where he graduated summa cum laude. Mike also earned a juris doctorate from the University of Utah College of Law in 1994, where he graduated Order of the Coif and also was a Note & Comment Editor for the Utah Law Review. Since 1996 Mike has practiced commercial litigation, bankruptcy, collections, and creditors' rights law with the regional law firm of Snell & Wilmer; and he is currently a partner of the firm. Mike has been named on several occasions as a member of Utah's Legal Elite in bankruptcy law by the Utah Business Magazine, and also was recently recognized as a Mountain States Super Lawyer for 2007.

Since 1999, Mike has served as an elected member of the Tooele City Council, and he currently is its Chairman. He is dedicated to the "Members First" approach that we have all come to expect from HeritageWest Credit Union, and is proud to represent HeritageWest CU's members on its Board of Directors. Mike and his wife Amy reside in Tooele, and are the proud parents of three young children.

John J. (Jack) Welsh - Board Member

Jack retired from Tooele Army Depot as Director of Services. He has served for over 50 years on the Board of HeritageWest Credit Union, many times as board chairman. He has vast experience in credit unions serving for 15 years as a member of the Board of Directors of the Utah League of Credit Unions (http://www.ulcu.com/). During his tenure there he also served as its chair. He also served for four years as a National Director for the Credit Union National Association (http://www.cuna.org). He has assisted in the growth of the credit union from a small institution of $1 million in assets to the full service institution that we enjoy today. Jack is dedicated to keeping HeritageWest Credit Union a sound, profitable, member-friendly financial institution. Jack was inducted into the Utah Credit Union Hall of Fame in 2003.
